NEW CASTLE (AP) – The family of a pregnant Pennsylvania woman who was slain along with her unborn son in February 2009 says the alleged killer – who was 11 at the time – has been released from a juvenile detention center.

Debra Houk, the mother of 26-year-old Kenzie Houk, and other relatives confirmed Monday’s decision by a Lawrence County judge.

They say Jordan Brown, who is now 18, was released after a juvenile court hearing that was closed to the public, but open to some of the slain woman’s relatives and Brown’s family.

Brown’s attorney, Dennis Elisco, wouldn’t comment specifically but says Monday’s ruling was “favorable.”

Brown was charged as a juvenile and adjudicated delinquent – the juvenile court equivalent of guilty – for shooting Houk, his father’s pregnant fiancee. Brown denies that and has appealed the verdict.
