A 24-year-old Allenport man died in a single-vehicle crash on State Route 481 in Carroll Township Tuesday night.

Dustin Lee Schultz was traveling south on Route 481 and lost control of his vehicle as he rounded a curve, striking a tree and a utility pole. According to Carroll Township Police Chief Paul Brand, speed could have been a factor in the crash. Brand said it appeared as though Schultz was not wearing a seat belt.

Schultz was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:40 p.m. by Washington County Coroner Timothy Warco. Carroll Township police are investigating, pending the coroner’s report. Assisting at the scene were Monongahela police, Valley Inn and Monongahela fire departments and Tri-County Community Ambulance Service.
