Gun found: A Canonsburg resident brought a loaded gun to the borough police station Thursday morning that he said he found on Franklin Avenue. According to police, the black Smith & Wesson was not stolen and record of ownership exists.

Road closed: Route 980 was closed for nearly two hours Wednesday night after an oversize tractor-trailer pulled down telephone and electric lines near the intersection of Hooks Lane. The road opened after utility companies repaired the lines.

Forgery charges: Anthony M. Byers, 29, of 1320 Allison Ave., Washington, was placed in Washington County jail Wednesday on two counts of forgery, theft and receiving stolen property. According to state police, Byers stole checks from his mother’s boyfriend and forged them for $850. He was arraigned before District Judge David Mark and placed in jail on $25,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 29 before Mark.

Retail theft: Robert P. Queen, 26, of Bridgeport, W.Va., was placed in Washington County jail for allegedly changing the price tag of an air-conditioning unit at Kmart, 4041 Washington Road, Tuesday. He is also accused of taking more than $23 in merchandise. Queen was arraigned before District Judge David Mark Tuesday on two courts of retail theft and placed in jail on $10,000 bond. A preliminary hearing before District Judge James Ellis is scheduled for June 28.

Theft case: Brett T. Lewis, 18, of 504 Fayette Ave., Rostraver Township, is charged by township police with theft and receiving stolen property over allegations he stole jewelry valued at $1,250 from his aunt about 7:15 a.m. May 19 while he lived in her residence, court records show. District Judge Charles Christner issued Lewis the charges in a summons Wednesday.

Items stolen: Ravin N. Allen, 27, of Ohio, was cited for retail theft by South Strabane Township police for allegedly taking $63 of merchandise from Walmart, Trinity Point, Wednesday.

Burglary charge: Korinne Mendicino, 24, of 31 Elkie Drive, Washington, was charged with one count of burglary for allegedly taking more than $3,000 from Dubtown Ink, 1070 Jefferson Ave. According to city police, Mendicino, who has access to the business, is seen on security footage entering an hour before it opened, taking cash and putting it in her bra before leaving. A summons will be sent from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.

Car damaged: Colin Evans, 20, was charged with criminal mischief for allegedly breaking out the window of a vehicle belonging to Mason Myers on April 16. Charges will be sent from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.

Resisting arrest charge: Patrick M. Hughey, 40, of 550 Broad St., Washington, was placed in Washington County jail for allegedly fleeing when police attempted to arrest him on a state parole violation Wednesday. Hughey allegedly led police on a foot pursuit and tried to hide. When police reached him, he refused to follow commands. Hughey is charged with one count each of flight to avoid apprehension and resisting arrest.
