Finleyville Airport plans a “fly-in” for the public and area pilots from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 2. Airplane rides will be free, weather and weight permitting. A prize will be awarded to the plane deemed prettiest. A concession stand will be open, and visitors will have a chance to see inside a medical helicopter.

On Saturday, July 9, during the same hours, the airport will host those who fly remote-controlled model airplanes and drones. Members of the Washington County Model Aviation Association, which regularly meets at Mingo Creek County Park, and other members of the Academy of Model Aeronautics will be attending.

The airfield’s address is 196 Airport Road. It is about a half-mile from the Finleyville-Peters Township boundary off Rankintown Road, which is known as Venetia Road in Peters, near Finleyville Cemetery.
