PITTSBURGH (AP) – Police have charged a man who they say admitted to drinking at least eight beers before he struck and killed a woman with his sport utility vehicle in Pittsburgh.

Police say Kyle O’Connor was arrested on Wednesday on a felony charge of accidents involving death or personal injury stemming from an early Sunday crash that killed 26-year-old Jessica McChesney.

Authorities say McChesney later died from blunt force trauma to the head and neck.

Police say they found O’Connor’s damaged SUV behind his apartment building after talking to a witness.

Police say the 21-year-old Ringtown man told investigators he’d been in an accident and would accept responsibility for it. They say he initially lied about his whereabouts before admitting he was drinking.

It’s not known if he has a lawyer.
