The 2016 Miss Jacktown Fair Queen Pageant will be held July 17 at 7 p.m. in the Commercial Hall at the Jacktown Fairgrounds.

This year, there are two queen contestants competing for the title of Miss Jacktown Fair. Each contestant has to submit an essay 300 words or less on “What The Jacktown Fair Means to My Community,” engage in a seven-minute interview session with judges, model an evening gown with a short introduction and give a three-to-five minute speech on “Why you Should Come to The Jacktown Fair.”

The new queen will be crowned by the 2015 Fair Queen Marissa Rode on July 19 at the upper grandstand following the Jacktown Fair Parade.

The contestants for queen are Samantha Lambeth and Laura Wise.

Samantha, 17, is a daughter of Jane and Kurt Lambeth of Sycamore. Samantha will be a senior this fall at West Greene High School, where she is a member of the prom committee, National Honor Society, Spanish club and FFA. Samantha also participates in 4-H goat, rabbit, swine and horse club.

Laura, 17, is a daughter of Mary Ellen and Andy Wise of Graysville. Laura is a recent graduate of West Greene High School, where she participated in volleyball, track, powder puff football, science club, art club, drama club, chorus, school publications and was a varsity football film assistant and 2013 prom attendant. Laura is active in Girl Scouts, young life, vacation Bible school and attends Valley Chapel Church. She plans to attend Slippery Rock University and major in middle level education mathematics.

Marissa Rode, the 2015 Jacktown Fair Queen, is a 17-year-old daughter of Jeff and Sheila Rode of Jollytown. In January, she competed in the Pennsylvania State Association of County Fairs State Fair Queen Competition held in Hershey. She will be a senior at West Greene High School, where she has been involved in varsity basketball, cheerleading and softball. She also has been a member of Girl Scout Troop 53591 for 12 years and has earned both her Bronze and Silver Awards while currently working to complete her Gold Award, which is the highest honor that can be earned by a Girl Scout.

Marissa is also a member of her school’s National Honor Society, a prom court attendant and was a class officer for five years. She is a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, the Church’s youth representative and assists with vacation Bible school. She enjoys painting, playing sports and spending time with her friends and family, especially as a leader of her school’s spirit section.
