The administrative office of the Pennsylvania Courts is seeking a full-time deputy court administrator for budget and procurement to replace an employee who was promoted earlier this month.

The person who is hired will be responsible for preparing and monitoring the budgets and purchases of 24 court-related departments, including probation, divorce and child custody, maintain fee and filing reports, manage the arbitration process for civil cases and supervise the arbitration coordinator.

The opening occurred after the retirement this winter of Joyce Hood, who worked in the office for more than 20 years. Catherine Curtis was promoted effective Feb. 22.

Although the opening is advertised by the state Administrative Office of the Pennsylvania Courts, interviews will be conducted locally.

Patrick Grimm, Washington County court administrator, said President Judge Katherine B. Emery “will make a recommendation to the state to fill the position.” The number of people working under the jurisdiction of the Washington County court administrator’s office numbers about 17, including court stenographers, technicians who operate the system recording courtroom proceedings, jury management and a staffer handling protection-from-abuse petitions.
