PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Police say three Philadelphia officers in two police vehicles were taken to a hospital after an accident involving a suspected drunken driver.

A police spokeswoman said an emergency patrol wagon and an emergency patrol car were parked next to each other in west Philadelphia when the patrol wagon was rear-ended by a sport utility vehicle, pushing it into the patrol car. Police said the patrol wagon and the SUV were severely damaged.

Both male officers, aged 46 and 27, from the patrol wagon and a 45-year-old female officer in the patrol car were taken to Presbyterian Hospital after complaining of pain. The 58-year-old man driving the SUV was also taken to Presbyterian Hospital. Police said he will be charged with driving under the influence and related offenses.
