Guards claim inmate found with heroin
An inmate at SCI-Fayette who was charged last week with drug possession is accused of having eight stamp bags of heroin and an unspecified amount of K2, or synthetic marijuana, at the prison in Luzerne Township, court records show.
Corrections officers told state police the drugs were discovered after Paris Raymont Murphy, 27, was involved in an aggravated assault shortly after noon Feb. 17, the affidavit accompanying the criminal complaint indicates.
Police charged Murphy March 3 with drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
His arraignment in the case has yet to be scheduled before District Judge Michael Defino Jr.
Murphy is serving a 4- to 8-year prison sentence at the maximum security prison after pleading guilty in August 2012 to charges of illegal firearm possession and fleeing and eluding police filed by Pittsburgh police.
