A Pittsburgh man was arrested Friday morning by Washington County sheriff’s deputies after he allegedly assaulted two other deputies who were transporting him to the Washington County Family Court Center for a juvenile probation proceeding.

Daivon Skinner, 19, is accused of kicking a chair that struck Deputy William Scrip in the leg and then pushing Cpl. Jerry Jericho.

Scrip and Jericho were transporting Skinner, who was at the Jefferson County (Ohio) Juvenile Detention Center, to his hearing just before 11 a.m. when he reportedly became combative.

The deputies told him to stop swearing and be respectful. Skinner allegedly told Scrip he was not going to be respectful and would spit in his face. Skinner then reportedly pushed Scrip in the chest.

Scrip reportedly told Skinner he would not have his hearing if he continued to act up and told him to sit down.

When Scrip and Jericho tried to make Skinner sit down, the 19-year-old allegedly kicked the chair, hitting Scrip in the leg. When the two deputies tried to remove Skinner from the court center, he allegedly stopped short and pushed Jericho in the chest. Skinner was then taken to the floor.

Sheriff Sam Romano said Skinner also spit on deputies and had to have a spit hood placed on him during transporation for his arraignment before District Judge Ethan Ward.

Skinner’s behavior also prompted consideration of doing the arraignment at the cruiser, but he was taken into the courtroom.

Skinner is charged with two counts each of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, obstructing law enforcement, disorderly conduct, simple assault and harassment. He was placed in Washington County jail on $50,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for March 21 before District Judge Robert Redlinger.

Romano said Scrip was treated for minor injuries.
