Man whose son killed K-9 before being shot is arrested again
PITTSBURGH (AP) – Pittsburgh-area man accused of fighting with police before his son fatally stabbed a K-9 and was killed by officers has been arrested again.
Police say Bruce Kelley Sr. was arrested around 7 p.m. Sunday after an officer spotted him on a busway platform. A judge last week ordered him to remain off Port Authority property.
The 60-year-old is in jail facing charges including possessing a prohibited weapon.
A district judge on Thursday threw out one of two aggravated assault charges that Kelley Sr. faced for the fracas on Jan. 31.
A defense attorney says Kelley is innocent.
Police say he punched an officer trying to arrest his 37-year-old son.
When stun guns failed to subdue Kelley’s son, they deployed a dog, which Kelley Jr. killed, prompting police to shoot him.
The district attorney is reviewing whether the dog was used properly.
