A state police fire marshal was investigating Friday after a vacant house at 307 Crawford St. in North Strabane Township burned to the ground.

North Strabane fire Chief Mark Grimm said the fire is suspicious because the house was unoccupied and not tied to utilities for the past five years. Canonsburg police said they received reports of possible vandals in the area when the fire was reported at 4:30 a.m.

The out-of-state owner has another vacant home beside the property, Grimm said, and was advised to board up the house.
