Langeloth woman arrested on robbery charges
A Langeloth woman was arrested Saturday by South Strabane Township police on charges including robbery and retail theft after she allegedly got into a scuffle with store security at Walmart, Trinity Point, when they confronted her.
Ashley White, 34, of 929 Mary St., allegedly was spotted by a loss-prevention officer selecting a mixer from a display shelf, walking past all points of sale and leaving the store.
When loss-prevention officers identified themselves and asked her to come with them, White reportedly told them she did not want to go to jail and tried to run. She allegedly got into a confrontation with the two security officers, shoving, kicking and scratching them, police said. An off-duty sheriff’s deputy came to their aid and helped restrain White until police arrived.
White was arraigned before District Judge James Ellis and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond. White also was wanted on a Westmoreland County bench warrant. She is scheduled for a March 24 preliminary hearing before District Judge Jay Weller.
Police also will charge a Brackenridge man with retail theft stemming from an incident at the store Sunday. Ryan L. Jakcic, 52, is accused of putting items valued at $214.82 in a brown sack that he brought with him and then leaving the store.
The charge will be sent by summons from Weller’s office.
