Borough manager voted out
The municipal manager for the borough of Canonsburg was fired after a 6-1 vote Monday night.
It is not clear what led to Robert Kipp’s ouster. Councilman Paul Sharkady was the lone no vote, according to a municipal employee.
Canonsburg Mayor Dave Rhome confirmed “Mr. Kipp is no longer with the borough” but declined to comment citing personnel law. The public vote took place after an executive session during the borough’s regular monthly voting meeting.
Councilman John Severine also declined to comment. Council president R.T. Bell, other members of council and solicitor Patrick Derrico could not immediately be reached.
Kipp could not be reached for comment. He was borough manager since June 2013, according to meeting minutes. Kipp served previously as municipal authority manager for North Strabane Township for seven years.
No motion was made to appoint someone to take over Kipp’s duties, nor was there any motion to hire or advertise for a new manager.
