A Nemacolin man was sentenced to jail Tuesday for sex assault of a minor – the same sentence he was given in December 2014 for another sex assault case with a different victim.

Bailey Charles Thorne, 21, of 302 Cedarwood Drive, was sentenced to 11 1/2 to 23 1/2 months in prison for two counts each of statutory sexual assault, corruption of minors and indecent assault without consent.

Thorne was involved in sexual relationship with two different teenage girls in 2014 when he was 19 years old, Cumberland police Chief Craig Miller.

“It was around the same timeframe,” Miller said. “I don’t think the two victims were related.”

He said the first complaint in March 2014 came from the parents of a 14-year-old girl. Miller said the parents went to police because they had concerns about Thorne’s relationship with their daughter.

Police said Thorne had sex with the girl in an unoccupied mobile home at the Route 21 Mobile Home Park and charged him in September 2014.

Thorne pleaded guilty in that case to statutory sexual assault and was sentenced in December 2014 to 11 1/2 to 23 1/2 months in jail.

Similarly, Miller said his department received another complaint from parents of a 15-year-old girl during the summer of that year.

Police filed additional charges against Thorne in April 2015 for a sexual relationship he had with the 15-year-old. Miller said those incidents happened at a Nemacolin residence. He pleaded guilty in November.

Thorne was sentenced Tuesday by Greene County President Judge Farley Toothman to the same amount of jail time as the previous sentencing and was given prison credit for seven months served against this case. If he provides proof of a job, he will be eligible for work release.

He must also complete 250 hours of community service, pay all court costs and a $750 fine and register as a Megan’s Law sex offender for 15 years.

“The court accepted the plea agreement which we were pleased about,” Thorne’s defense attorney Joshua Camson said.
