One confirmed dead in Southwestern Pennsylvania house fire
WEST NEWTON (AP) – One person has died in a fire that destroyed a house in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Authorities say a man in his 70s lived alone in part of the multi-family home in South Huntingdon Township, but they stopped short of saying whether he was the victim or was even home at the time of the fire. It broke about 5 a.m. Monday in the largely rural township about 30 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.
The Westmoreland County coroner’s office confirmed the fatality.
Authorities were still investigating the cause of the fire.
