A Carmichaels man died Monday after a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 79 in West Virginia.

Jessy Daniels Dulaney, 22, was ejected from his vehicle as it was traveling north near mile marker 159. The car hit a vehicle in front of him when trying to merge back into the right lane, according to West Virginia state police. Dulaney lost control and his car crossed the median and rolled several times before coming to rest in the southbound lanes. He was pronounced dead at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.

Dulaney’s passenger, Rachel Doty, 21, of Waynesburg, also was ejected from the car. She was in fair condition Monday night, according to a spokeswoman with WVU Medicine/WVU Hospitals.

A student at Waynesburg University, Dulaney was a 2012 graduate of Carmichaels Area High School. He played football for the Mikes.

He attended Greene Valley Church of God near Crucible.

He was on course to graduate this May with a degree in psychology.
