WILKINSBURG (AP) – Police say a 60-year-old man told them he doesn’t know why he strangled his wife at their home on a well-kept street in a Pittsburgh suburb.

Richard Katilius remained jailed Thursday on a count of criminal homicide in the death of his 63-year-old wife, Linda.

She was found dead in their Wilkinsburg home about 4 a.m. Wednesday.

Allegheny County homicide detectives say Katilius told them he didn’t know why he killed the woman before driving to his brother’s home in Cabot, Butler County, where he confessed what he did.

That prompted a call to police early Wednesday, who forced their way into the Katilius home and found the victim. An autopsy confirmed she had been strangled.

Katilius doesn’t have an attorney listed in online court records and faces a preliminary hearing April 1.
