Waynesburg Lions name top students
WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg Central High School seniors Lillian Behm and Andrew Guess were selected by the high school faculty as the Waynesburg Lions Club’s students of the month for March.
Behm, the daughter of Clay and Jennifer Behm of Waynesburg, has a 4.0 grade- point average.
She is vice president of the senior class and secretary of the National Honor Society. She is a member of the chorus, French Club and drama club.
Behm plays flute and piccolo and is a section leader in the marching band and first chair, soloist, in the concert band.
She is a member of the PMEA District Band and the Pittsburgh Music Academy and was a flute soloist in the Pittsburgh Music Academy Chamber Orchestra.
Behm is a member of the track team and is a four-year letterman and two-year captain of the soccer team. She is an all-section soccer player.
She played soccer with the Victory Express Soccer Team and has participated in the Pittsburgh Riverhounds Soccer Development Training Academy.
Behm received high honors in Advanced Placement U.S. History and a perfect academic attendance award. She also received honorable mention in the National Merit Scholar Qualification.
Behm was named an Observer-Reporter Athlete of the Week and a Herald-Standard Scholar Athlete.
She is a volunteer at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home and walks dogs at the Waynesburg Animal Hospital. She is a volunteer for Greene County Youth Soccer concessions and has served the youth soccer league as a certified soccer referee and an assistant coach and during summer camp training. She plans to attend college and major in neuroscience.
Guess, the son of Kelly and Jude Guess of Holbrook, has a 3.80 grade- point average.
He is a four-year member of the high school rifle team and received academic excellence awards in social studies, accounting and FST. He received a Rotary youth leadership award and attended a youth leadership program.
Guess attends St. Ann Catholic Church in Waynesburg and is a youth altar server and co-teacher for the CCD. He assists at the Knights of Columbus fish fries.
Guess plans to attend an electrician apprenticeship program in Pittsburgh.
