A New Eagle man was arrested by Monongahela police and his son also will face charges after they allegedly forced their way into a home Thursday and stole several items, including a saw and jewelry.

Christopher P. O’Brien, 46, of 426 Fourth Ave., was arrested on charges of burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. His son, Christopher O’Brien, 20, of 617 Lincoln St., Monongahela, will be charged with burglary, theft and receiving stolen property. Police Chief Brian Tempest said the charges against the younger O’Brien will be filed Monday at the office of District Judge Mark Wilson.

Police were called about 7 p.m. Thursday to 615 Lincoln St., for a report of people yelling and screaming. Police received a report from Zachary Anthony and Melissa Chacko that the back door of their residence was kicked in, Tempest said. The two also reported their back door kicked in last week.

Tempest said the O’Briens went to the home, knowing no one would be there. The rear door was forced open and the items stolen. The elder O’Brien owns the residence at 615 Lincoln, Tempest said.

Police said O’Brien’s 17-year-old son will be charged with disorderly conduct, as will O’Brien’s girlfriend, Wendy Ann Parks, also of 426 Fourth, New Eagle. Tempest said Parks is Chacko’s mother.

O’Brien was arraigned before District Judge David Mark and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for April 5 before Wilson.
