Sister to Sister deadline extended
The application deadline for the Washington County Sister to Sister Summit has been extended to 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Girls who are sixth-graders in Washington County are invited to participate in the 16th annual summit, scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Citizens Library. Part of an international series of Sister to Sister Summits, this overnight conference is sponsored locally by the Washington branches of the American Association of University Women and Business and Professional Women and Outreach Teen and Family Services, with support from Citizens Library, Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern Pennsylvania and Washington Hospital Teen Outreach.
At the summit, peer facilitator-led small-group discussions and a variety of other activities will address critical areas of concern such as dealing with peer pressure, decision-making, creating positive friendships, body image, bullying, personal safety and self-defense, and dating and relationships. Team-building activities, “purposeful fun,” refreshments and ample sleep time will round out the agenda.
Prospective participants should contact summit co-coordinator Kathy Sabol, AAUW-Washington, at katsabol@comcast.net or 724- 225-6710. No walk-ins will be permitted. In addition, registration forms may be downloaded through Facebook (“sister~to~sister”) or at www.sistertosistersummit.org.
