Classes planned to help caregivers relieve stress
An educational series designed to provide caregivers with the tools needed to care for themselves will be begin this month.
The program, “Powerful Tools for Caregivers,” is designed to help family caregivers reduce stress, improve self-confidence, communicate feelings better, balance their lives, increase their ability to make tough decisions and locate helpful resources.
Classes consist of six sessions held once a week. Two experienced class leaders conduct the series, and many are experienced caregivers themselves, who successfully applied the techniques they teach.
Interactive lessons, discussions and brainstorming will help caregivers take the “tools” that anyone can choose and put them into action.
The Caregiver Helpbook, which is a book developed specifically for the class, will be given to participants.
Classes will be held at Waynesburg Community Center at 1505 Morris St., Morrisville, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sessions are every Monday beginning April 11. For more information or to register, please contact Michelle Rockwell at 724-223-5115 ext. 615 or mrockwell@tripil.com.
Class size is limited and pre-registration is required.
This series is being co-sponsored by Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging, the Pennsylvania Link to Aging and Disability Resources, Amedisys Hospice, Greene County Caregiver Support Group and Community Action Southwest.
