Motorists using Route 21 in Franklin Township are reminded about road restrictions that will be in place this morning between the Greene County Airport and the county fairgrounds because of the United Mine Workers rally.

UMW members and their supporters will begin a 1 1/2-mile march from the airport to the fairground at 10 a.m.

To accommodate the walkers, the westbound lanes of Route 21 will be restricted to a single lane between the airport and fairgrounds. Police also will be providing traffic control at intersections along that section of highway.

There could also be some traffic disruptions in the Interstate 79 southbound off-ramp at the Waynesburg exit on Route 21 and the adjacent on-ramp for vehicles preparing to merge north on the interstate.

The UMW expects more than 5,000 members and supporters to attend the event. Road restrictions will be lifted after all marchers reach the fairgrounds.
