The Cornerstone Genealogical Society of Greene County will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the log cabin courthouse on Greene Street. This month’s topic will be given by Morgantown Museum’s Pamela Ball, who will be discussing the importance of the flat boat on the Monongahela River. The meeting is free and open to the public.

The Morgan Township Society of Farm Women will meet at noon Wednesday at the home of Linda Madlock, located at 410 Sherman Ave., Waynesburg. Lunch will be provided.

The Warrior Trail Association of Greene County will meet at its headquarters in Fordyce at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 19. Local author and historian, Jim Wienschenker, will speak on his latest book, “Waynesburg & Washington Railroad Second Locomotive Number 4.” He will be signing books and have some available for purchase. Wienschenker will recount the amazing story of how Locomotive Number 4 now at the Historical Society museum made it from 1916 to today. The book includes builder’s specifications, in-service and post-abandonment photographs, detailed drawings and historical background.

A free breakfast for Greene County veterans and their families is being held Saturday, May 21 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Carmichaels American Legion located at 205 E. George St. Bring any memorabilia and stories that you would like to share.
