Pittsburgh mayor wants cop-killer’s profile off pen pal site
PITTSBURGH (AP) – Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto wants a pen pal site for inmates to remove a profile posted by triple cop-killer Richard Poplawski.
KDKA-TV reports Poplawski’s profile on CONPALS Inmateconnections.com victimizes the “grief-stricken” families of officers Eric Kelly, Stephen Mayhle and Paul Sciullo II.
The Eugene, Oregon-based company didn’t immediately return an emailed request for comment Friday.
KDKA sent the profile information to the mayor’s office on Wednesday, and Chief of Staff Kevin Acklin says Peduto took immediate action.
Peduto is especially upset because the profile – which seeks letters from women – includes a four-and-a-half-minute music video of sorts that shows TV coverage of the April 2009 slayings, pictures of Poplawski posing with various weapons, and photos of Poplawski’s home in the aftermath of the shootout with police.
