PHILIPSBURG (AP) – Authorities say they’ll have to use DNA to confirm the identity of a tanker truck driver killed after his rig hit a bear in central Pennsylvania.

State troopers from the Philipsburg barracks say the crash occurred about 1:15 a.m. Wednesday on U.S. Route 322 in Rush Township, Centre County. That’s about 120 miles east of Pittsburgh.

Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers says he’s not sure how long it will take to confirm the driver’s identity.

Police say the tanker truck overturned and crossed the center line of the road after hitting the bear.
