Children taking a walk on bridge to somewhere
This week’s Mystery Photo comes from a box of negatives marked “1967-68” in the Observer-Reporter’s archives. The box came from the newspaper’s Canonsburg office, which closed shortly thereafter.
This photo and another one showing that the bridge crossed railroad tracks were taken for a reason, but what that might have been is unknown. We’re hoping our readers might recognize the location and have some inkling of its significance.
Under magnification, it can be seen that the people walking along the road are school-age children. Might they have been coming to or from school? If so, which one?
If you think you know where this road crossed the tracks or why it was of interest at the time, email Park Burroughs, retired executive editor, at pburroughs@observer-reporter.com, or call and leave a message for him along with your telephone number at 724-222-2200, extension 2400.
With a little help from our readers, we may be able to solve this puzzle and publish our findings next Monday.
