The Waynesburg Area Chamber of Commerce has started planning the 2016 Downtown Waynesburg Christmas Parade, which will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 3.

More than 200 applications were mailed to schools, churches, civic organizations and other interested parties throughout the county. All units must register by Nov. 18. Entry fee is $10. Late entries will be accepted through Nov. 23, with a fee of $20. No entries will be accepted after the 23. A limited number of scholarships are available for groups that have financial need.

The grand marshals will be Miss Rain Day 2016 Bryn Patton; the chamber’s 2016 Distinguished Service Award winners, Gene and Judy Rush; the family of the late David Cumberledge; and First Federal Savings & Loan of Greene County.

There is no central theme, but all entries are asked to portray the true spirit of Christmas. Float judging will be held before the parade, and trophies will be awarded to the top three floats.

None of the entries is permitted to have a live Santa, since he is the guest of honor at the end of the parade.

Anyone who did not receive an application is asked to download the parade application by visiting the chamber website at www.waynesburgchamber.com. For more information, call the chamber office at 724-627-5926.
