A West Alexander man who escaped from a Pittsburgh hospital last month was arrested Monday night by Greene County sheriff’s deputies at a house in Wind Ridge.

Dustin Scott Rush, 32, fled police Oct. 11 after being taken to UPMC-Mercy Hospital for treatment. Rush was serving time in the state Renewal Community Corrections Center in Pittsburgh for receiving stolen property.

Rush was arrested without incident about 9 p.m. Monday as he arrived at the Wind Ridge home, Greene County Sheriff Brian Tennant said.

“We received an anonymous tip, did some reconnaissance and were able to substantiate this tip,” Tennant said.

Deputies went to the home and took Rush into custody. He was alone.

“He had just arrived and was in front, outside the residence,” Tennant said.

A report of the arrest had not yet been completed Friday and the names of the occupants of the residence were not available, Tennant said. However, he said, the home is believed to be that of a friend and it was where Rush’s wife was staying. No charges are pending against the residents, Tennant said.

Rush was taken to the Greene County jail to await extradition.

“Our deputies did a great job with handling this incident from start to finish,” Tennant said.

He also thanked the person who gave deputies the anonymous tip of Rush’s whereabouts.
