Firefighters reported no injuries after responding to a car that caught fire in a garage of a South Strabane Township home Monday.

Fire Chief Scott Reese said his department received the report of the fire at 3:38 p.m. after a 2002 Chevrolet Impala caught fire in one of two garages attached to the house on Preston Road.

The mother and daughter occupying the house went outside as they waited for first responders, who arrived within minutes.

Reese said the incident, likely caused by a heavy-engine fire, caused heavy smoke damage to the whole house and fire damage to the basement, basement steps and garages.
