Police recognized by AAA for traffic safety
Several police departments in Washington, Greene and Westmoreland counties were recognized Wednesday by AAA East Central for their community traffic safety efforts.
“We are honored to recognize these local departments for their efforts in the Community Traffic Safety Program,” said J.J. Miller, AAA East Central safety adviser. “Each organization has gone above and beyond the call of duty to make their community a safer place for motorists and residents.”
The Platinum awards were given to “Commendable Leaders” for their safety efforts and enforcement activities geared toward making communities safer. The recipients of these awards include the Canonsburg, Cecil Township, McDonald, North Strabane Township, South Strabane Township and Washington police departments, as well as state police Troop B in Washington.
Gold awards, the second-highest recognition to be given, were awarded to police departments in Chartiers Township, Donora, Monessen, North Franklin Township and the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.
Silver awards were given to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department and Waynesburg police.
Bronze awards were given to the Carroll Township, Charleroi, Cumberland Township and East Bethlehem Township police departments.
