Rice providing holiday meals, coats next two Saturdays
For the second consecutive November, Rice Energy Inc. will provide Thanksgiving-style meals and distribute coats to people in need in Washington and Greene counties.
Rice will hold two Plate of Plenty events, the first at the Washington City Mission’s new dining hall from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, and the second from 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 19 at Waynesburg Readiness Center. Participants should attend the event in the county in which they live.
Employees of the energy company will prepare and serve traditional Thanksgiving dishes at both locations: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, corn, dinner rolls, pie and ice cream. Afterward, attendees may select a new or gently used coat.
Sally Mounts, director of development at Washington City Mission, said in a prepared statement: “It is heartwarming to see a world-renowned business not only nourish our hungry neighbors, but also to provide them with warm coats for the winter. We look forward to a long partnership with Rice Energy.”
Registration is open to the public and free transportation will be available in each county. To register or for more information, visit www.plateofplentywashington.eventbrite.com or www.plateofplentygreene.eventbrite.com, or call Rice Energy, 855-258-8326.
