W&J College to present two free public lectures
Washington & Jefferson College will present two free lectures that are open to the public.
At 7 p.m. Monday, three retired U.S. Army infantry officers will present “We Were Soldiers, The Battle of Ia Drang, Vietnam” in Room 100 of the Dieter-Porter Life Sciences Building. The officers will discuss a significant battle of the American Vietnam War – Landing Zone X-Ray in the Ia Drang Valley. This battle is the basis for the movie “We Were Soldiers.”
The speakers are Capt. Ramon “Tony” Nadal who commanded A Company 1st Battalion; 2nd Lt. Walter “Joe” Marm who led 2nd Platoon of A Company; and B Company’s 3rd Platoon Leader – 2nd Lt. Dennis Deal. Award-winning journalist Callie Crossley will visit W&J Monday through Thursday as a Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fellow. Her public lecture is Wednesday in Yost Auditorium of the Howard J. Burnett Center at 7 p.m. Crossley, a media commentator and public speaker, currently hosts Under the Radar with Callie Crossley. Crossley formerly served as host for Boston Public Radio and The Callie Crossley Show. She is a regular contributor on National Public Radio, CNN, Fox 25 TV’s Morning Show, and the PBS NewsHour.
