Two teenagers injured in Greene Co. crash
Two teenagers were seriously injured Thursday night in a head-on crash on Route 21 in Jefferson Township, Greene County. State police said a car driven by 16-year-old Shay Siebert of Nemacolin was traveling west near Gwynn Road at 11:18 p.m. when she tried to pass a vehicle in front of her in no-passing zone. Her car hit a vehicle that was traveling in the opposite direction head-on.
Siebert and a passenger, 16-year-old Kaitlyn Wolfe of Rices Landing, were flown by medical helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va. Neither girl was wearing a seat belt. The driver of the other vehicle, Michael Colon, 35, of Crucible, was not hurt.
Wolfe was in good condition at Ruby Memorial, a hospital spokesman said. Siebert’s condition was undetermined, he added.
State police said Siebert will be charged with careless driving, passing on a double-yellow line, driving after 11 p.m. on a junior license and other traffic violations.
