Author to lecture at W&J
Diane Dean, co-author of “Generation on a Tightrope,” will present a public lecture at 3:30 p.m. today at Washington & Jefferson College. Dean’s observations and research have helped popularize the term “Generation Z” to describe the world view, attitudes, and behaviors of today’s young men and women. The lecture will be held in Room 100 of Dieter Porter Hall.
Dean is associate professor for Higher Education Administration & Policy at Illinois State University.Her research applies organizational theory, social psychology, and policy analysis to address critical issues in college and university planning, policy and governance. She is co-editor of Public Policy and Higher Education, a comprehensive work examining current policy issues in higher education and the postsecondary education policy-making process; and co-editor of the Women in Academe series, which includes multiple volumes on women college students, women in academic leadership, and gendered issues in faculty roles and work lives.
Dean is currently examining sociological changes in today’s generation of undergraduate college students, the forces shaping their experiences, and the implications for postsecondary education policy, planning, classroom practices and the co-curriculum.
