WAYNESBURG – An inmate at Greene County jail, who pleaded guilty in June to two counts of simple assault for attacking a corrections officer last year, was sentenced Wednesday to 11½-to-23 months in jail.

Randy Allen Kimble, 29, of Brave, was initially charged with two counts of aggravated assault for slapping a female guard in the face inside the county jail’s C-block Sept. 5, 2015. Investigators said he returned a few moments later and spit on her.

Those charges were changed and Kimble pleaded guilty to two counts of simple assault.

The female guard told police she was doing routine checks when Kimble struck her in the face, which was caught on surveillance footage.

It wasn’t the first time Kimble spit on someone at the jail. In 2013, he was convicted of spitting on former jail warden Harry Gillispie. He was sentenced by Greene County President Judge Farley Toothman in May 2014 to six days to 23-½ months in jail and placed on probation. Online court records show, that he violated probation in October 2014 and was sent back to jail.

In his order Wednesday, Greene County Judge Lou Dayich ordered Kimble to comply with all recommended mental health treatment, “given the history of the defendant’s mental health condition.” Dayich gave Kimble credit for time served since Sept. 30, 2015, meaning Kimble is now eligible for parole. He also has a case pending in Allegheny County.
