Rewards are offered in multiple robberies
Rewards are being offered by Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers for information leading to the arrest of robbers who held up two convenience stores at knifepoint within a 14-hour period earlier this month, one in Centerville, Washington County, and the other in Jefferson Township, Greene County.
The GetGo, 3143 National Pike (Route 40) in Centerville, was robbed just before 7 a.m. Oct. 16, according to state police at the Belle Vernon station. The BFS store, Route 188, Jefferson, was robbed just after 8 p.m., said state police at the Waynesburg station.
Police said a man entered the Centerville store, armed with a silver knife that he waved at customers and employees. He demanded money from the register. The robber reportedly jumped over the counter, removed money from the register and then fled through the front door. He is described as being about 5-feet, 4-inches tall, wore a face mask, dark, hooded short, blue jeans and white sneakers.
A robber wielding a razor knife entered the Jefferson store, demanding money and tobacco products. He jumped over the counter and stole $50 to $75 from the register along with tobacco items. He fled into a wooded area. Police searched the area but did not find anything. The robber is described as white, 5-feet, 6-inches to 5-feet, 7-inches tall, weighing 150 to 160 pounds with a medium build. He wore a gray, long-sleeved shirt, dark gray pants and black mask.
There was no immediate information as to whether state police believe there is any connection between the two robberies.
