Police beat Sept. 2
Three charged: Corey A. Maxwell, 32, of 1899 Craft Creek Road, Claysville, John T. Pearson, 47, of 1093 Addison St., Washington, and William Lowe, 35, of 372 Cunningham Road, Claysville, were charged Thursday by Donegal police with possession of heroin and paraphernalia stemming from an Aug. 26 traffic stop at Routes 40 and 221, Buffalo. Maxwell also is charged with driving under suspension and an equipment violation. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Ethan Ward.
Cellphone stolen: Joseph Lyons of 221 S. College St. told Canonsburg police Wednesday his nephew’s Apple iPhone was stolen from his backpack in his locker at Canonsburg Middle School.
Fugitive arrest: Chaz M. Crews, 25, of 1020 Sugar Run Road, Avella, was arrested Wednesday by Donegal police as a fugitive from justice during a traffic stop on Route 231, Donegal. Police said he is wanted for failure to appear to serve jail time in Waynesboro, Va., Nov. 13. He was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward and placed in Washington County jail without bond, pending extradition to Virginia.
Bushes damaged: A Midway man told McDonald police Sunday a red Jeep Wrangler drove through bushes at the home of his neighbor at 508 North Ave., Midway. The lawn and bushes were damaged.
DUI alleged in crash: Richard D. Bandi, 58, of 113 Will Scarlet Road, McMurray, will be charged by North Strabane police with driving under the influence of alcohol stemming from a two-vehicle crash Wednesday night on Washington Road (Route 19) at McClelland Road. A vehicle driven by Jill Gayl Amos, 46, of 503 Valley View Terrace, Canonsburg, was stopped in the northbound left turn lane when her vehicle was hit from behind by Bandi’s pickup truck, police said. She and a passenger in her vehicle, John A. Iskey, also of 503 Valley View Terrace, were taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment. Police said Bandi’s blood-alcohol content was almost four times the 0.08 percent limit at which intoxication is presumed.
Jewelry, cash stolen: Johanna Russell of Northgate Apartments, 760 Michigan Ave., told South Strabane police Wednesday $75, an iPhone and jewelry, including wedding ring sets, were stolen from her residence.
Six charged: Brandon Harden, 30; Cindy Stanko, 32, and Sean Miller, 25, all of 1090 Michigan Ave.; Rajoul Edwards, 40, and Damian Freeman, 18, of 1079 Michigan; and Michael Nixon, 49, of 1040 Bruce St., Washington, were charged with harassment and disorderly conduct stemming from a fight Wednesday outside 1090 Michigan, Washington police said.
Window damaged: Steven Gregor of 65 Brookside Ave. told Washington police Wednesday a window at his home was damaged by vandals.
Game player stolen: Jodi Carroll of 159 Church St. told Washington police Wednesday a PlayStation 3 game player was stolen from her home.
Underage charge: Alonzo T. Tinsley, 20, of 535 Fayette St., was charged with unsworn falsification, retail theft and purchase of alcohol by a minor for allegedly taking a beer from Cogo’s, 501 Jefferson Ave., Friday. A Washington police officer said he saw Tinsley place the 12-ounce beer in his pocket and leave the store. Tinsley allegedly came to the police station later with a receipt for a 24-ounce beer. Charges will by sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Stolen property charge: Derrin Laird, 30, of 60 Keenan Ave., was charged with receiving stolen property for allegedly selling a computer that was reported stolen from Rent-a-Center, W. Chestnut Street, to Route 19 EZ Cash, Highland Ave. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Assault charge: Charles Scott, 70, of 122 Church St., was charged with criminal mischief and simple assault for allegedly trying to enter a car that was stopped at a stop light on East Chestnut Street Wednesday. According to the complaint, Scott kicked a dent in the car when he couldn’t get in. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
