A multiple-vehicle crash closed Interstate 79 northbound Monday afternoon.

The accident occurred about 4:26 p.m. north of the Southpointe exit.

A Washington County 911 supervisor said dispatchers received varying reports of how many vehicles were involved, with callers saying as many as six.

The supervisor said one person was reported injured and transported to a hospital from the scene, but it was unclear which hospital.

First responders closed northbound lanes of the interstate at the Southpointe exit.

The southbound lanes remained open, but the supervisor said traffic was likely slowed because of an unrelated vehicle fire reported about 3:50 p.m. near the 46 mile marker, about two miles from the accident. No injuries from the fire were reported.
