Greene commissioners hire construction site manager for final phases of airport project
The Greene County commissioners have contracted with Management Engineering Corporation to oversee the final phases of the airport business development construction project.
The commissioners unanimously voted Thursday to pay the company $59,100 to oversee the new access road construction to the east of the administrative building and $124,650 to manage construction and inspection for the new parking lot near the building and road leading to the hangers.
The bids for the final portions of the project are expected to be opened April 18. The construction for the final phases is expected to begin this summer.
MEC has seen other projects within the business development. Earlier portions of the project have included construction of a new entrance to the airport, a new four-way intersection at Route 21 and Murtha Drive, construction of a new airplane hangar and demolition of four old hangars on the property that will be leased for commercial development.
Once completed, open lots around the airport building will be available for commercial development.
