Police Beat Aug. 3
Motorcyclist injured: Kevin Clements, 19, of Washington, was seriously injured Monday when the motorcycle he was driving at a high speed ran off Rural Valley Road near Smiley Road and hit an embankment, state police said. He was flown by helicopter from the scene to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh. He was wearing a helmet.
Assault charge: James A. Sadler, 46, of 565 Broad St., Washington, was charged with simple assault and harassment stemming from an incident July 27 at 507 Blaine Ave. According to borough police, Sadler got into a fight with his daughter’s boyfriend, Eric Boyer, who was observed by police to have injuries to his face. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Mother, daughter charged: Shannon Bennett, 40, of 92 Murray Ave., Washington, and her daughter, Citana Bennett, 20, of J-60 Bel Air Drive, were charged by state police with simple assault and harassment after a fight early Wednesday morning in Citana Bennett’s home. They were arraigned before District Judge David Mark and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bonds. Preliminary hearings are scheduled Aug. 16 before Mark.
Assault charge: Charges of simple assault, theft by unlawful taking, criminal mischief and harassment were filed Tuesday against Jodi L. Smith, 37, of 536 Pike St., Meadow Lands. According to township police, Christina Gregg reported she was at Smith’s residence when she was assaulted by an unnamed cousin and Smith. Gregg, who had facial injuries, said Smith took her cellphone, struck her and pulled her to the ground. When Gregg made it to her vehicle, Smith allegedly tried to pull her out and ripped off the windshield wiper lever. Charges will be sent from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Concertgoer arrested: Bridget N. Keim, 26, of Beach City, Ohio, was placed in Washington County jail after a concert Tuesday night at KeyBank Pavilion, where she allegedly attempted to bribe police. According to township police, Keim did not comply with officers who were trying to take her into custody after she was seen with a marijuana cigarette. Keim allegedly slipped out of her handcuffs and tried to run from officers. When she was taken into a holding area, she allegedly threatened to kill officers, punched the walls and asked how much money officers would take to release her. She was charged with bribery, making terroristic threats, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and possession of a controlled substance. Keim was arraigned before District Judge David Mark and placed in jail on $10,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Aug. 16 before District Judge Gary Havelka.
Beer stolen: Lyndsey Russell-Zelenski, 34, of 470 Seventh St., Donora, was placed in Washington County jail Tuesday for allegedly breaking into a home at 430 Park Ave. early Monday morning. According to Monongahela police, security footage shows Russell-Zelenski and an unidentified man with a large green tattoo on his right elbow kicking in the back door and stealing a six-pack of beer from the refrigerator before fleeing. Russell-Zelenski was charged with burglary, criminal trespass and larceny. She was arraigned before District Judge David Mark and placed in jail on $25,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Aug. 15 before District Judge James Ellis.
Break-in: Police received a report at 10:30 a.m. Monday someone broke into Ollie’s Pizza, 1009 Waterdam Plaza Drive, causing damage to a door. Nothing was stolen. No money is kept on the premises overnight, police said.
Cash reported stolen: Police are investigating a report Monday of the theft of $7,800 from Lashes By Sophia, 628 E. McMurray Road. Police said someone entered the salon through an adjoining business.
Drug charges: Police said they stopped a vehicle for speeding about 2:30 a.m. Sunday and detected the odor of marijuana. The driver, Isaiah Robinson, 18, and passenger, Markel Anthony Pulliam Jr., 19, both of Washington, will be charged by summons with possession of a small amount of marijuana.
Medication reported stolen: A resident of the 900 block of Venetia Road reported Saturday the previous evening, someone broke out the living room window and stole prescription medication.
Theft from vehicle: A laptop computer and purse were reported stolen Friday from a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Walnut Drive. Someone used a tool to enter the locked vehicle, police said.
Assault charge: James Ruane, 57, of 320 Lincoln Drive, Peters Township, was placed in jail Tuesday on charges of simple assault and terroristic threats. According to township police, Ruane allegedly told Kathryn Ruane he would kill her and grabbed her around the neck during an argument at their home. He was arraigned before District Judge David Mark and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Aug. 15 before District Judge James Ellis.
Brother charged: Kenneth L. Hanning, 40, address unknown, was placed in Washington County jail Wednesday on a charge of making terroristic threats. City police said they were called to the home of Mary Risner three times because Hanning, her brother, who sometimes lives with her, would not leave. Hanning allegedly pushed an air-conditioning unit through a window to gain access to the house and threatened to burn the house down. He was arraigned before District Judge David Mark and placed in jail on $10,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Aug. 16 before District Judge Robert Redlinger.
