MONESSEN – A Bentleyville man and Ellsworth woman are facing child endangerment and related charges after Monessen police found her suffering from an overdose and slumped over her 6-month-old child in a car Tuesday.

Police said an officer used Narcan to awaken Brittany Ann Kurowski, 27, of 23 Chestnut St. about 2 p.m. at Park Plaza at 1743 Grand Boulevard.

Officers were initially called to the plaza after receiving a complaint about a man singing to the sky and saying he lost his shoe. He later was identified as Gregg A. Kubasiak, 31, of 116 Francis St. and taken into custody.

Police notified Washington County Children and Youth Services about the child after the infant and Kurowski were taken to Mon Valley Hospital.

A search of Kurowski and the car produced two bundles of heroin, police allege in court records.

Both suspects also face charges of drug possession, reckless endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia. Kurowski also faces a charge of tampering with evidence over allegations she hid some of the drugs in a body cavity. Kubasiak also faces charges of public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. He is in Westmoreland County jail on $5,000 bond set by District Judge Roger F. Eckels. She is jailed on $10,000 bond also set by Eckels.
