ERIE (AP) – A jury has found a Pennsylvania teen guilty of first-degree murder following a 2016 shooting.

The Erie Times News reports 18-year-old Jaquel Tirado was convicted in the death of Stephen Bishop Thursday.

Police say Bishop was shot in Erie in August 2016. The 26-year-old man ran toward a house, and his body was found in the doorway.

Tirado, who was 17 when Bishop was killed, waived his right to seek a trial in juvenile court.

Prosecutors say surveillance video, gunshot residue and an eyewitness connected Tirado to the scene.

Tirado’s lawyer says there was not enough evidence to convict. He told jurors police prosecuted his client with a “narrow mind.”

Tirado faces a mandatory life prison sentence without parole.
