Canton Twp. man sought on child-rape charges
State police are looking for information on the whereabouts of a Canton Township man who is accused of raping a girl inside a Buffalo Township home about five years ago when she was 7 or 8.
An arrest warrant was obtained Monday from District Judge David Mark for Timothy Adam Hewitt, 31, of Point View Drive, charging him with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children, indecent assault and indecent exposure.
The alleged victim, during a June 26 forensic interview, reportedly told investigators she was sexually assaulted and raped by Hewitt at a home in Buffalo in 2012. She said she could not remember if she was 7 or 8 at the time of the alleged assault.
The girl reportedly told her guardian the assault happened in spring 2012, and because of her age, she did not realize what was happening. The house where the assault allegedly took place was later destroyed in a fire. Hewitt’s wife and 5-year-old son were killed in the Oct. 27, 2013, fire.
Hewitt is 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs about 315 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call state police at 724-223-5200.
