Police charge two with theft, get warrant for 3rd suspect

South Strabane Township police arrested two men and got a warrant for a woman in the theft of jewelry, two guns and other items from a woman’s home.
Ronald Dale Clutter, 62, of 64 Crestvue Drive, Washington, and Shawn Johnathan Bumbera, 47, of 230 Crestwood Drive, Washington, were arraigned last week before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bonds.
Detective Michael Schidlmeier obtained an arrest warrant Wednesday for Kayla Nichole McConnell, 27, who police say is homeless. All three are charged with felony theft, receiving stolen property and conspiracy.
Schidlmeier said Clutter had rented a room from the victim and had access to the entire home while the person was vacationing in Florida from late June to early August. Bumbera and McConnell reportedly stayed at the house with Clutter while the homeowner was gone.
The homeowner discovered the theft when she returned home and called police Aug. 6. There was no sign of forced entry. The woman told police she discovered signs her home had been searched. Items stolen from the home included jewelry, coats, clothing, money, hats and two guns. The homeowner estimated the value of the stolen items at $35,000.
Schidlmeier said he checked Pennsylvania Precious Metals records and learned Bumbera sold jewelry at a Washington store July 22 and 28 and Aug. 4. The victim identified the jewelry as belonging to her. McConnell also is seen on surveillance video in the store, police said.
Clutter and Bumbera are scheduled for preliminary hearings before Weller Tuesday. Anyone with information on McConnell’s whereabouts is asked to call South Strabane police at 724-225-8111 or 911. She is white, has blonde hair and blue eyes. She is 6 feet, 1 inch tall with a thin build.
