Charleroi man jailed in Speers home invasion
A Charleroi man was placed in Washington County Jail on charges connected to an Aug. 7 home invasion in which the victim was allegedly tied up and threatened.
Daquan Rawls, 19, of 806 Crest Ave., was jailed Tuesday on $25,000 bond by District Judge Gary Havelka.
According to Charleroi Regional police, Rawls and Gerin Tayre Williamson, 18, of 619 Grove Road, Verona, entered the house at 899 Twilight Hollow Road with a .22-caliber rifle and handgun and ransacked the residence looking for marijuana and pills.
The alleged victim, Robert F. Thorpe, 17, was left tied up on the lawn with a scarf around his face. Williams allegedly put a handgun to Thorpe’s head and struck him in the knee with the rifle, breaking the gun’s stock.
Rawls and Williamson allegedly stole a jar with marijuana residue, a computer tablet, a suitcase and a video game console.
Rawls’ mother, Fatina D. Rawls, 38, same address, was placed in jail on charges she drove her son and Williamson to and from the house.
District Judge Larry Hopkins signed a warrant Aug. 14 for the arrest of Williamson, who remains at large.
Rawls was charged with aggravated assault, robbery, burglary, conspiracy to commit robbery, theft, reckless endangerment, receiving stolen property, simple assault, possession of a prohibited firearm, intimidation of a victim and possession of drug paraphernalia. A preliminary hearing will be held before Hopkins on Aug. 31.
