Diamond necklace stolen: A diamond necklace was stolen Aug. 16 from a 32-year-old woman’s car while it was parked in the lot near Waynesburg Central High School at 30 Zimmerman Drive in Franklin Township, state police said.

Theft: Valerie Marie Rife, 21, of 762 Stonehill Road, Rogersville, was charged by state police with three counts each of theft and receiving stolen property, after she allegedly was caught on video surveillance stealing money from an elderly woman on Applehill Road in Washington Township last month. Police said Rife was hired by the victim through a company to come to her residence twice a week to perform household chores for her. The victim suspected Rife had stolen money from her lock box and table over the past few weeks, so she notified police. On July 26, police set up cameras and put money on the victim’s dresser. When Rife allegedly stole some of that money as well, police caught it on video, according to the criminal complaint. Rife then allegedly admitted to police she previously stole $190 from the older woman, the complaint said.
