North Strabane Township police have identified the drivers involved in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon that closed Route 19 near Conklin Road for about an hour.

Police said Elliza Ivy See, 25, of 795 Bebout Road, Venetia, was in the southbound passing lane when she reportedly struck the rear of a dump truck that was stopped to make a left turn onto Conklin. The driver, James F. Graham IV, 35, of Wampum, Lawrence County, told police he activated his left turn signal before coming to a stop as he waited for northbound traffic to clear.

A witness driving north on Route 19 just south of Conklin confirmed she saw the turn signal on in the dump truck. She also said the sport utility vehicle driven by See approached the rear of the truck and did not appear to be slowing down. The witness moved over at the last second. Two witnesses told police they heard a crash and saw the SUV flipping through the air past the truck.

See had to be extricated from the vehicle. She was flown from the scene to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of face and chest injuries. Assisting at the scene were firefighters from North Strabane and Peters Township and Canonsburg Ambulance.
