Washington County is now home to an indoor, walled trampoline court whose concept is so unique it holds a patent.
Regardless of its pedigree, it will be a jumpin’ joint when it officially opens Friday.
Sky Zone, an internationally franchised indoor trampoline park, held a pre-opening event for media Nov. 30 at 281 Georgetown Road in Cecil Township. The local franchise is co-owned by Joel Karg and Dave Beckett, two Ohioans who also have a unit in Monroeville.
The local park, which received its first use Nov. 30 by students from Pittsburgh’s Urban Pathways K-5 College Charter School, is located in the 30,000-square-foot building that formerly housed the Southpointe Court House, which operated a trio of basketball courts.

Under Sky Zone, jumpers will also be able to participate in popular activities including 3-D dodgeball, SkyRobics fitness classes, SkySlam basketball and traditional open jump. New for the Cecil Township site will be an American Ninja Warrior-style obstacle course and a “freeclimb” rock-climbing wall.
Based in Los Angeles, Sky Zone was formed in 2004, and was awarded a patent for developing the first walled indoor trampoline court. It now has 200 courts around the world.
Karg said Sky Zones attract customers of all ages, with the prime demographic being children ages 8 to 16.
“We do a lot of birthday parties,” he said, adding the parks also host many corporate events.
But enjoying a jump session at Sky Zone, which offers low-impact exercise, doesn’t require a lot of talent.
“We like to say, ‘If you can walk, you can jump,'” Karg said.
Sky Zone, 281 Georgetown Road, will open to the public Friday. Hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 4 to 11 p.m. Fridays; 10 a.m. to midnight Saturdays; and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Closed Mondays.
