A Monongahela woman was arrested Thursday by Monongahela police on charges of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment after she allegedly swerved her vehicle at three boys who were walking on a street.

Shannon Maloy Stasicha, 34, of 821 Howard St., also is charged with reckless driving in connection with the alleged incident Tuesday at Lincoln and Grant streets.

Police said they were called to a home on Lincoln, where two mothers and their sons told officers when the boys got off a Ringgold Middle School bus, Stasicha approached the two boys in her vehicle at a high speed and swerved toward them. The boys told police they thought Stasicha was going to run over them and kill them. A third boy made a similar accusation to police later in the day. He also told police that he saw one of the other boys tease Stasicha’s son.

Stasicha reportedly told police she was upset her daughter got mud in the car. She told police she was off her regular route and not paying attention. She said she never sped up and was forced to stop because a boy was walking on the street, and she waited until he moved onto the sidewalk.

However, the boys claimed she made a U-turn and came in their direction, jerking the vehicle toward them, instead of going straight toward her home.

Stasicha was arraigned before District Judge Larry Hopkins and released from Washington County jail after posting $100,000 bond. She is scheduled for a Dec. 27 preliminary hearing before District Judge Curtis Thompson.
